TECHNOLOGICAL NARCISSISM
Project developed for Interdisciplinary Undergraduate Work.
Based on Gilles Lipovetsky's concept of narcissism and the technology and behaviors presented by the people in the animation Wall-E, an animation script was developed explaining how the Earth became so polluted to the point that human beings decided to inhabit space. .
The narcissism of each individual, and also of society, together with the evolution of technology and consumerist compulsion have altered human interpersonal behavior, distancing everyone and connecting them only through gadgets. This adoration for image and socialization through the digital world plus exacerbated consumerism, in less than a hundred years of the 2010s, was the kick to make the planet toxic and people sedentary like those presented in Pixar's animation.
